Rise and Shine: Using Risers to Increase Your Storage and Get Organized

Risers or tiered organizing racks may very well be the unsung heroes of home organization.

Risers can subdivide a tall shelf and give you an extra mini shelf that essentially doubles your storage. In the kitchen we often use them to separate dishes and cups as to avoid stacking, which can lead to disorganization as well as possible breakage.

In the linen closet, you can use risers to separate sets of sheets or bath towels from hand towels, and these same organizers in your bedroom closet can separate, for example, your t-shirts from your sweaters. When you give each set of items its own discrete space, you are more likely to keep things neat and consistently return everything to where it belongs.

Related to the simple riser that can help you create an extra “shelf” pretty much anywhere you need one are multi-tiered organizers especially useful for organizing spices. By creating multiple levels, these platforms allow you to see and read all of your spice labels at one glance.

These same tiered organizers also come in somewhat wider sizes to contain your canned foods as well. Again, as with the spice organizers, the larger platformed risers allow you to quickly inventory your cans and easily locate what you need.

Integrate risers in your organizing strategy, and you will find your home organization game looking up very quickly!
