Holiday Gift Guide: Home Organization Edition

When you buy something through our retail links, we may earn commission.

With the holidays rapidly approaching, you may be feeling a little overwhelmed by your gift-giving to-do list. While we always encourage gifting experiences and other clutter-free presents, we also understand the desire to gift tangible objects that can bring joy when unwrapped. So, once again, we’ve put together a list of 5 of our favorite organization items that you might consider gifting a friend, family member, or even yourself.

1. Airtight Baking Essentials Containers

We love decanting into air-tight food storage containers, which can save space while making your pantry shelves more elegant. We really like OXO’s POP containers because they are extremely well made and can be opened with just one hand if your other hand is full or busy mixing something in the kitchen. An especially great gift from this collection is the 8-piece Baking Essentials Set which comes with 5 containers, 2 of which include handy built-in scoops for your flour or sugar, so you always have a measuring cup handy. And a fantastic bonus is the “Brown-Sugar Saver” accessory designed to keep your brown sugar soft and fresh.

2. Sunglass Storage

Sunglasses tend to get thrown on top of a hall table or kitchen counter after you walk in the door, and if you have a big collection that you alternate or a large household, the sunglass drop zone can often get messy or out of control. To solve this problem, we love mDesign’s stackable eyeglass organizer as well as iDesign’s 3-drawer vanity and countertop organizers. These are great for storing reading glasses as well, and because they are so attractive, they can be placed anywhere they are needed most, from countertops to dresser tops to vanities.

3. Label Maker

As you may know, we think labeling is one of the keys to getting and staying organized. Our favorite label maker is the Brother P-Touch Cube Plus. Download their app on your smartphone and use the various templates (or create your own) to make beautiful labels in a variety of styles, sizes, colors, and both horizontal and vertical orientations. Order compatible tape in different widths and colors to give yourself even more options. For the especially crafty person on your list, the Cricut Joy will allow them to take their labels to the next level. The Cricut, which has a range of capabilities beyond just making labels, has a steeper learning curve, but it will allow you to create much larger labels with even more fonts.

4. Art Supply Caddy

Each of the kids in your life will love having their own personal art caddy filled with fresh supplies, from markers and crayons to glue and scissors. Start by purchasing a caddy in a color you think your child will like, or just select a simple clear or white option, fill with supplies, and if you have a label maker or a Cricut, personalize with their name. You can also order a personalized name label on Etsy or from local crafters and transfer on to the caddy, or just use a water-proof permanent marker to neatly handwrite their name on the side. These caddies are so cute and functional that kids will love using them and will likely want to keep them neat and organized.

5. Rolling Carts

We love rolling carts as a way to contain school or office supplies or to create task-specific stations or zones, and the fact that they are both portable and tucked away when not in use makes them even more functional. For the arts and crafts lovers in your life, use them to create an art cart; if you are looking for someplace to store your gift-wrapping supplies, they can be transformed into a gift-wrap station. These carts come in a variety of colors, but if you’re looking for something especially high-end, The Container Store has a very pretty, all-clear option by iDesign for The Home Edit that could be transformed, for example, into a cart for houseguests, where all the supplies they could possibly need during their stay (towels, water bottles, toiletries, books and magazines, etc.) would be neatly stored and easily accessible.

Finally, you can always gift or pair any of these ideas with a gift certificate for professional home organization services. Exceptional professional organizers across the country offer gift cards throughout the year, and especially during the holiday season. Email us at info@sortstoreandstyle.com if you need a gift certificate for in-person home organization in Naples, Florida, or for a virtual session from anywhere in the world. Happy holidays!
